Frozen Time, film still (swimmer two), 2010, 18 min.
Working with fragments of footage from decaying super 8 film, my work exposes the false perceived immortality of the medium. By re-photographing, slowing down and cross-fading each individual frame, the work becomes situatied between the photographic and the cinematic. Played at its original speed at 24 FPS, the sequence only last a few seconds. Drawn out to eighteen minutes, audiences are able to spend time viewing each frame, reflecting on cinema and the illusion of movement.
